Property Use Committee Meeting
Attending: Brad Callies, Myrna Cikanek, Cliff and Renoda Dogs, Larry and Noreen Dogs, Nikki Gunst, Karen Kottwitz, Larry and Jane Moldenhauer, Richard Moldenhauer, Dale Twardokus, and Dean Twardokus.
Meeting Notes: Deb Drake has volunteered to be in charge of the schedule of the building. We talked about the building use guidelines and the application for use that had been approved at the quarterly voters meeting. They will both need to be changed after the building is officially named.
Syl’s of West Bend, which is owned by Steve and Kelly Baetz, has been hired to clean the carpeting. They are coming in on Friday to do the work. The former school janitor, Mike Healy and his helper Dennis Krueger are working on waxing the floors. They will also paint where needed. Larry Dogs was asked about painting the possible office location. There may also need to be an extra door between rooms. He would take care of any work that needs to be done.
Some of the worship committee and alter guild members had met on Wednesday evening. Jane Moldenhauer gave us a recap of that meeting. She told us about the double cell cordless shade for the windows in the library that they looked at getting through Schnorenberg’s. The shades were quoted at $1,688.25. When Schnorenberg’s were out he suggested going with the light gray color. The Lisko family (Ron & Deb, Judy, Jane & Larry, Buffy & Andy) would like to donate the shades.
Larry and Noreen Dogs went to Milwaukee to look at used church pew chairs that were on Craigslist. They brought one that was at church for people to look at after services on Saturday and Sunday. It was the general consensus that the chairs were too short. Jane had looked at different sites on the internet and found some new chairs at bizchair.com priced at $35.00 each with free shipping. There was a question on protecting the chairs from scratching the floor. There are plastic tips on them. It was mentioned that maybe there would be someone interested in donating towards new pew chairs. Should we get 50 or 100 chairs? It was mentioned that if we get a donor, we could always get 50 to start with and add to it later. Several people thought that it would be best for the chapel room to be set up in time for the fall election.
Other items discussed for setting up the chapel room included the use of stain glass decals on the hallway windows. That would run about $300 a window. Putting another set of shades there is also a possibility. We would also need a podium. That could be brought over from church to start with. Putting a large cross in the front was also talked about. Charlie Naab would be willing to make a cross if we got a picture to him of what was wanted. Jane mentioned that Sue Lisko would like to get something in memory of Tony. There might be something for the chapel area that would interest her.
Larry Moldenhauer is looking into the repair of the foggy windows. Several people told him to check with Mark at the Paint Shop in Hartford. Also to be put on the wish list would be gates to block the hallway if we want to keep the public from walking throughout the building. It was measured and is 7 ft 4 inches across.
Larry Dogs reported that Church Mutual is insuring the building for the $423,000. that the bank appraised it at. Church Mutual was out and said the replacement value would be about $3,000,000.
Richard Moldenhauer has a list of the keys and who has them. Daniel Albrecht, a new teacher at KML will be coming Wednesday morning to look at security. He will discuss using fabs which would record when someone enters the building. We also discussed the smart boards. Will we need all of them? Do we sell some of them? How many? What are they worth? Where is the software you need to have for it to work? Richard will look into it.
Larry Dogs reported that we received a call from Joe Conrad at the Schauer Center. They are looking for space to rent for dance classes for 2017 and are also interested in use of the gym for the Hartford Players. The Hartford Players generally draw a smaller crowd and it tends to look like a poor turnout when it doesn’t fill the seats in the Schauer Center. He has come to view the property and took some pictures and will get back to us.
The Town Board would like to have their monthly meetings here. They would like to use the gym for both the August and November elections. The council has set a $25 fee for the meeting rental and $100 will be charged for the use of the gym for the elections.
A discussion was had on the bathrooms. Who will be cleaning them? Should we make the bathrooms in the main hall handicap accessible? Right now, the bathroom located in the south hallway is the only one that is handicap accessible. The other bathrooms have stalls that are too narrow. There are also hooks in the bathroom that should probably come down as they make the space more narrow and someone could get bumped there. It was decided to talk about this more later as we at least have 1 handicapped bathroom for now.
Dean Twardokus said that WLA would probably be contacting us to see if they could still use the parking lot for their bus to stop to pick up and drop off students. It would require us to have the snow removal done early in the day. They had liked that snow removal was taken care of and it is one of the reasons it had been chosen as the bus stop.
Richard Moldenhauer said that the lawn mower at church is giving some trouble. A rear discharge mower would be best and he is looking into it.
We closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
Respectfully Submitted,
Noreen Dogs
