Property Use Committee Meeting

Dean Twardokus opened the meeting. He has been appointed by the council to serve as the chairman of the committee. Everyone was given a copy of the minutes from the first meeting. Dean asked if we would be referred to as the Building or Property Use Committee. It was indicated that the Property Use Committee will be the name we go by and Noreen will correct the minutes from July to reflect the name. Larry Moldenhauer moved to accept the minutes and Clifford Dogs seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dean went around the room to ask each person if they would be willing to serve on the committee. We had several people here from the Planning Committee meeting which met before us tonight. They were invited to join our committee. The following people will serve on the Property Use Committee: Dean Twardokus, Larry and Jane Moldenhauer, Cliff and Renoda Dogs, Larry and Noreen Dogs, Nikki Gunst, Steve Wetor, Bill Moldenhauer, Richard Moldenhauer, Myrna Cikanek, Karen Kottwitz, Brad Callies, Dale Twardokus, and Cody Gunst.

Dean asked for volunteers to serve as the secretary. Noreen Dogs volunteered to do the minutes. Larry Moldenhauer moved to appoint Noreen Dogs as secretary. Brad Callies seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Larry Moldenhauer reported on the progress of the floor waxing and the repair work on loose floor tiles. The carpeting has been cleaned by Syl’s of West Bend. The 1st and 2nd banks of lockers came out and the reception area of the office was painted. The fire inspector and the Iron Ridge fire chief were here to make suggestions. Del Kannenberg reported that Mike Healy said the school had a letter exempting them from the semi-annual inspection. We are exempt, should we check if we need a letter? Our church building is served by County Wide Extinguisher and that is the same company that came here too.

The chapel area is shaping up. The chairs donated by Cliff and Renoda Dogs have been set up. Many positive comments were given from voters coming through the building for the August election. The phone line is working as of 9:45 this morning. The possibility of having it ring at Trinity will be looked into. Bob Harned from the Bob the Counterfitter has looked at the well in the hall. He will make a countertop for that spot. He is willing to donate the labor if we will pay for the laminate.

Richard Moldenhauer has been keeping track of mowing the grounds. Jane Moldenhauer talked about having coat racks where the lockers have been removed. She is willing to get hangers. The outdoor mats were in bad shape and have been thrown out. There are some rolled up mats here, they are probably for the foyer. New outdoor mats will be needed. Some of the folding chairs from under the stage are in bad repair. An outdoor sign will also be needed. We will table the sign discussion for the next meeting.

Dedication is set for August 28th at 1 PM. The band, Salt, will be coming and playing newer settings of hymns. The set up is going to be worked on by the Worship Committee. Larry Moldenhauer suggested asking the Alter Guild and Ladies Society for help with the dedication. A cleaning day is needed before then, especially for the kitchen. There are curtains to clean. A sign up list will be at church for cleaning with the dates of Sat, Aug. 20; Mon., Aug. 22; Tues, Aug. 23, and Wed., Aug. 24. Jane will be in charge of coming up with a list of things that need to be done. Bars and cookies will be needed for the dedication. Set up for the food will probably be in the lunch room. Help with the parking will be needed. The blacktop parking lot will likely be full and cars may have to park on the grass.

Larry Moldenhauer explained that Hustisford High School was interested in the lockers, but did not do anything yet because they would have to bring it before a meeting and did not have the labor to do it at this time. Some small lunch tables and lockers were already sold. There were 105 lockers and 70 are still in. Another man was interested in 10-15 lockers for a gym. He didn’t want to wait for Hustisford. A price of $25.00 each was given to him. They would have to remove them at their expense. It was suggested to stop removing lockers until after dedication. Larry Moldenhauer moved to wait with any other locker removal until after dedication, Larry Dogs seconded the motion. Motion carried.

The toilets are blackened. Mike Healy has drained them in the past and painted them white. It lasts about a year. Ron and Deb Lisko use muriatic acid to clean their toilets. It was suggested to put a lock on some of the bathrooms so that all of them won’t need to be cleaned. How will we handle maintenance in the building? Del Kannenberg brought up the fact that a group should leave rented space as it was found. He also mentioned that someone from the congregation should be present. Mike Healy has showed Brad Callies how to turn the air conditioner on and off. Nikki suggested not having the air on when there is a lot of opening and closing of the doors going on. Jane suggested hiring Mike Healy. It was also talked about hiring someone like Steve Baetz for the cleaning. He is hired to clean at the Chandelier. We will table the discussion of cleaning until next month.

Dan Albrecht, the new technology teacher a KML, looked at our building security. He is proposing using fabs that will record the time of entry and some security cameras. He will get us some estimates.

The Schauer Center is interested in renting a dedicated room for dance classes in 2017. We discussed how much to charge for rent. Larry Dogs suggested to charge $200.00 a month. They would have liked to use the first classroom on the north hall, but that space will be used for catechism and bible class. Del Kannenberg thought they should be moved as far down the hall as possible.

The Zoning Use Permit was discussed. Larry Dogs spoke with Town Herman Clerk, Diane Beine. The building is zoned A2 which is fine for church and school or education. A use permit would be necessary for other uses such as retail office space or a coffee shop. The permit fee would be $250.00 and we could apply for any possible uses all under one application. Larry Moldenhauer said we should let the congregation know that we’re adding the possible uses on so we don’t receive negative comments when there is a public notice. Diane indicated that as long as money received for rent goes toward debt retirement and maintenance it would not cause a problem with the church’s tax exempt status. Cliff Dogs moved to apply for the Zoning Use Permit with future possible use indicated and Steve Wetor seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Sue Lisko is interested in donating a large cross for the chapel in memory of Tony. Pictures of table design possibilities for the alter were sent around. Charlie Naab could make something if we gave him a picture.

Nikki asked if the 4-H club could help with yard clean up in lieu of rent. Larry Dogs made a motion to waive the fee for Herman Hornets 4-H Club and ask them to help with yard clean up. Larry Moldenhauer seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Pastor explained that Trinity, ZKC, Woodland, and Neosho will be doing joint catechism classes on Wednesday evenings. The pastors will take turns teaching the class of about 20 students. Pastor Babinek will have Bible study on Tuesday nights.

We talked about the next meeting date. It was decided to have it on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 8 PM*

Cliff Dogs moved to adjourn the meeting. Steve Wetor seconded the motion. We closed with the Lord’s Prayer.

Respectfully Submitted,

Noreen Dogs, Secretary

*Note- The meeting was rescheduled for Sunday, Sept. 11 at 7 PM.
